Does judging your creative output fairly, require time? Or do you know when it *happens* in the moment? I recently went away to stay with some family friends in Sweden for a week to finish the writing for my 1st record.
After revisiting some old songs, it made me think about how we are often unable to judge the true merit of a piece of work just after we create it. There were demos I had discarded, which upon a re-listen, contained some essential truth or beauty, only apparent with the perspective of distance from them. Like they were written by a past self; someone else… What’s your experience with this strange form of blindness?
I also got distracted and did a cover of ‘Fool On The Hill’.
So grateful to Sophie and Patrik for having me to stay, feeding me mushrooms (the safe ones), and resetting my brain with stimulating conversation and nylon string etudes.
